Overview of Research Activities in Computational Acceleration

11月6日,一场题为“Overview of Research Activities in Computational Acceleration: Focus on 5G Acceleration and Virtualization”的学术报告在北塘河创新中心8号楼第一会议室顺利举行,报告人为加拿大蒙特利尔大学工学院Yvon Savaria教授(IEEE Fellow)。会上,研究院下一代移动通信网络关键技术测试与标准研究团队与Yvon Savaria教授深入探讨了低功耗硬件加速,毫米波雷达信号处理和OFDM通信芯片研发等领域的合作前景,达成了在人才培养、项目联合申报、前沿科学联合研究等方面的合作意愿。

报告摘要: After a brief summary of the Canadian Microelectronics research ecosystem, his presentation will explore the needs and benefits that hardware accelerators can bring to electronics systems. Principle of hardware acceleration will be reviewed. Several illustrative examples based on his recent research will be covered.  The applications of interest generally relate to network and telecommunication applications. Recent developments on heterogeneous platforms will be covered. The specific applications that will be covered include network traffic management, address lookup, Bloom filters, scheduling, polar code decoding, and sparse code multiple access for 5G.
